HEYHA is sponsoring a Moth for Amy to help give Amy Johnson, Hull's aviation heroine, the recognition she deserves.

As part of the Amy Johnson Festival, A Moth for Amy will mark the 75th Anniversary of her tragic and untimely death and bring her remarkable life to the attention of people across the city, region, country and the world!

This festival of the arts and engineering will celebrate this wonderful woman and her amazing achievements. There will be over 50 Moths in locations over the city and the region.

The HEYHA Moth (pictured right) will be located at the following locations:

  • July and August 2016 - Hallmark Hotel, North Ferriby
  • September and October 2016 - Humber Royal, Grimsby
  • November and December 2016 - Holiday Inn Hull Marina
  • January, February and March 2017 - Mercure Royal Hotel Hull

The HEYHA Moth's design celebrates pioneering scientists and engineers such as Rosalind Franklin, whose research helped lead to the discovery of DNA, and Ada Lovelace, who aided in the development of early computing technology. The patterns take their cue from Art Deco ceramics and fabric, but also incorporate symbols and images from the sciences.
